Not sure what I am doing wrong but I use Martin style truss rods and they never seem to line up with the hole in the brace. Seems like the channel in the neck is not deep enough and the rod is riding too close to the soundboard making it hard to access. I make my channel exactly the depth of the martin necks and it is slightly deeper so I make a spline to cover the rod before gluing the fret board. Probably something simple but always a challenge for me. I make the hole in the soundboard brace so thin on the top it is barely covering the sound board. |

Are you doing something funky with your neck angle? And, how much of this rod is protruding from the neck? I set my rod right up to, and under, the string nut, so that very little of it sticks out even past the neck block. Never an issue to reach it.... |

No funk in the neck angle and I use a Martin neck as guide for the channel depth and length and using Martin style rods from LMI. Think I will take a picture tonight and post and look over a few things to better explain. |
